MAN MURDERED BY FRIEND OVER K3 DEBT IN CHADIZA
A tragic incident has unfolded in Chadiza District of Eastern Province, where a 37-year-old man, Agrippa Banda of Kamthira Village in Chief Mlolo’s area, lost his life following a violent altercation with a close friend over a mere K3 debt. The घटना reportedly occurred around 19:00 hours during a drinking session at the home of Mutiyonse Lungu in Thebwe Village, where the two men had been consuming opaque beer, commonly known as Chibuku. According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, tensions escalated when Banda demanded repayment of the small debt, which Christopher Nyirenda of Chikwa Village denied owing. What began as a verbal disagreement quickly drew attention from community members, who intervened and advised both men to disperse and return to their respective homes in an effort to defuse the situation.
However, the situation took a deadly turn shortly after they parted ways. It is alleged that Nyirenda followed Banda and attacked him using a pan brick, striking him on the head with fatal force. The sudden and brutal assault caused Banda to collapse on the spot. Concerned residents rushed him to Chanida Health Post in a desperate attempt to save his life, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later taken to Chadiza Police Station, where he was pronounced dead. The shocking nature of the incident has left the local community in disbelief, as the two men were known to be friends prior to the dispute. Police have since launched a manhunt for Nyirenda, who fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward as investigations continue into this senseless loss of life over such a small amount of money.
